My Tank Park Salute

This was written at Creative Writing Society – the task was to write a poem using 100 words of 1 syllable based on a memory. The title is taken from a Billy Bragg song.

Where did you go?

Why did you go?

Come Back

Please

Sand, sea, sun

Gone for good

Where are you?

Why is this?

Come back

Please

Run. Stop. Think

Here. No.

There. No

Back. No

Gone. Yes.

Come back,

Please.

Gone, left, passed.

Sorry, so sorry

You, me, us

Come back

Please

No You

No Us

No More

No, just no

Come Back

Please

Hide, Yes? Not gone.

You’re here, not gone.

You came back

Yes?

Oh, just a dream

Not back, still gone

All in my head, not true

I was wrong.

You’re gone, gone for good

I thought you weren’t but you are

Gone for good

Come back

Please
